Blog:  Gifts on a Budget - Step #1:  My best idea is one I've been doing for over a year now:  www.vistaprint.com.  You can get personalized gifts for almost free!  Sign up for their e-mails so you can find out when they are doing big sales with lots of free items.  By the time you order 7 free items, you only pay around $15 for shipping.  That means you only paid around $2.00 per item!  I've done:  shirts, pens, notepads, notebooks, stickers, coffee mugs, photo calendars, mouse pads, business cards, posters,  banners,  magnets, key chains, bags and bumper stickers.  You can pick from their vast library of pictures or you can put your own picture on these gifts!  You can only order one of each "free" item up to 10 free items per order.  So, if I need 4 calendars... I order one and a few other free items, then place another order for another calendar and other free items. After 4 individual orders, I have my 4 "free" calendars.  Kids love to see their name in print!  This is especially good for kids that have names that aren't found in stores!  We made the shirts for my parents for Grandparents' Day.  Many of our friends and family got personalized gifts for Christmas last year.  The cheapest shipping takes 14 business days, so it's a good idea to start buying a couple "Free" items each month from now until Christmas.  The gifts are great quality!  I have only had 1 item that didn't print dark enough.  I called the 1-800 number and they sent a new one right away!  Check out their site!  Everyone loves these personalized gifts!
